FAQ

Which provider should I pick?

If you’re not sure: OpenAI is the simplest — one key covers both transcription and summaries. Groq is fastest for summaries. Anthropic produces the best long-meeting summaries in our testing. Ollama runs locally on your Mac (slowest of the four, requires a capable Mac).

Is BYOK really free?

Yes. You pay your AI provider directly for what you use. Quendian charges nothing for the BYOK path, ever.

Can I switch providers later?

Yes — pick a different preset in Preferences, paste the new key, and the next session uses the new provider. Past sessions keep their original transcripts and summaries.

What about transcription?

OpenAI (Whisper), AssemblyAI, and Deepgram all handle transcription. AssemblyAI and Deepgram add native speaker diarization. The OpenAI provider page covers both transcription and summarization with a single key.
