Recording

You can start a recording from three places:

  • Sidebar button — click Record in the Quendian main window
  • Global shortcut — press ⌘⇧R from anywhere on your Mac, even when Quendian is in the background
  • Menu bar — click the Quendian menu bar icon and choose Record

Quendian captures two audio sources simultaneously:

  • Microphone — your voice and any audio in the room
  • System audio — audio playing from other apps on your Mac (meetings, videos, browser tabs)

Both sources are mixed into the recording. See Grant permissions if system audio isn’t being captured.

While recording, a red dot appears in the menu bar. Click the menu bar icon to access quick controls — pause, resume, or stop — without switching to the main window.

Click Pause (or press ⌘⇧R while recording) to pause. The menu bar indicator changes while paused. Press ⌘⇧R or click Resume to continue. The transcript picks up from where it left off.

Press ⌘⇧R or click Stop to end the recording. The session is saved immediately and the transcript finalizes.

Each recording is saved as a separate session in the sidebar. Sessions are stored locally on your Mac. See Sessions for search, rename, and export options.
